EC Legislation
 

The EC Equal Treatment Framework Directive 2000/78/EC requires member states to outlaw discrimnation on the grounds of age, on or before 1 December 2006.

In the UK
 

Most provisions of the Employment Equality (Age Discrimination) Regulations 2006 came into force on 1 October.

Implementation of the pension provisions of the Regulations has been delayed until 1 December 2006 to allow for further consulation.
