Abercrombie & Fitch settles age-discrimination claim in the US

Abercrombie & Fitch Co. has settled an age-discrimination lawsuit that raised questions about some of its workplace practices.

Rocky Robins, general counsel for the New Albany-based retailer toldBloombergBusinessweek that the case has been resolved, but declined to reveal any details.

The settlement came before CEO Michael Jeffries was to be deposed for a second time in the case.

The lawsuit brought against Abercrombie by a former pilot was filed in Pennsylvania in 2010 and began to receive more attention in recent months as documents filed with the court revealed the detailed and unusual demands placed on employees who worked on the company jet, including a mandatory dress code of boxer briefs, jeans below the waist, and a “spritz” of Abercrombie cologne.
