Race (indigenous people).  Their rights are recognized by the Political Constitution of the Republic of Guatemala and the OIT Agreement 169.

Gender: women.  The Congress of the approved the “Law Against Feminicide and other Violence Actions Against Women”.

Age: children.  Law approved by the Congress of the Republic of Guatemala “Law of Integral Protection of Children and Youths” (Ley de Protección Integral de la Niñez y Adolescencia - Decreto No. 27-2003).

Age: old aged people. Law approved by the Congress of the Republic of “Law of Protection of Old Aged People (Ley de Protección para las Personas de Tercera Edad - Decreto No. 80-96).

Age: “Regulation of Laboral Protection of Children and Youths that Work”  (Protección Laboral de la Niñez y Adolescencia Trabajadora - Acuerdo Gubernativo 112-2006).

Disabled people.  The Political Constitution of the guarantees the protection of people with disabilities. (Article 53).

In Guatemala, discrimination is sanctioned by the law.  The Article 202 bis of the Criminal Law states that discrimination will be understood as any distinction, exclusion, restriction or preference based on gender, race, ethnic group, language, age, religion, financial resources, sickness, disability, marital status…  The sanction will be of one to three years of prison and a fee of five hundred to three thousand quetzals…”
